    RnR - I knew you'd like that.

I ran 3 miles today, done as .25 mile intervals with 1 min walking between. I'm a little sore tonight. It'll be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow AM. It felt really good to run outside and not on the track. And I used my Newtons which was kinda fun. They are sooooooooooo light it's amazing. Still not sure if I love them yet though.

    The Witches of Eastwick!!

    Yay!

Also: I ran yesterday. I'm still on the low mileage diet, but slowly and surely ramping it up. I'm still not 100% sure my hip is better, it still feels off at times, but not necessarily painful.

It's getting warmer though, so hopefully I can focus on cycling this year.

Yahaaaay - 5.5K, my previously usual, small round, all in the new "Proud Triathlete Shuffle" I learned a week ago. The last time I got so far without hurting was... in December I guess.

please, please please ye gods of triathlon, please let me pass through this folly unscathed......

Actually the one with SJP and Bette Midler would be Hocus Pocus?

It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

Isn't Eastwick the one with Cher, Meryl Streep and Michelle Pfeifer - ?
Different kind of witches - as I recall.

Speedwork today - hopefully outside if the rain will stop.

Did a basic 3 minute walk/2 minute run combo tonight. On my second lap I did a bit more running that what I did on the first lap. Thus my overall average was pretty good.

    1 hour 7 minutes
    6.25 miles
    10:45 per minute mile

Well since it was the first day of Running Club, they took awhile to get out of the gym so I took off and ran 2km before they even started. We were doing 1km loops around the block so it was easy to catch them on my 3rd trip. So for today, I managed to fit in my 5km run AND run with the kids. I think I did about 8 min run / 1 min walk today. My garmin wouldn't find a satellite for the first little while so I didn't use it until the second half of my run.

I also had another appt with the orthotic girl. We decided to try relacing my shoes. We took the laces right out and started them further up the shoe so there was less pressure on the big toe joint. Since I haven't had the orthotics in for a month, the tenderness is gone now and I couldn't feel any pressure when I did a short test run. I'll wear them like that for the next week or so and see how it goes. Hopefully, this will solve the problem for good. Cross your fingers!!!

Ran 7x400 intervals yesterday and got about 4 miles in total. Today I did 4.5 miles easy. My shins have been acting up with the pounding of the speed work . Time to get back to icing.

Only 3 today. I need to ice. I think I shuffled like an old person In fact, when I crossed the street (hoping cars would stop at the crosswalk), an older couple was walking/scootering the opposite direction. They had hesitated and I said "hey, I'm trusting they'll stop!". On the way back, one of them said "We didn't get hit but we weren't as brave as you!" I commented "imagine all the points they would have got!" thinking it was due to the combination of scooter and my shuffling.

    I don't think they understood

Oh well. I felt older than them. Tomorrow is another day and I will understand the beauty of ice no matter how uncomfortable it feels. At least I stretched That is always some kind of miracle because I really don't do that as much as I ought to.

If that doesn't work, I have/had a solution that kind of works for me. I was fit for mens running shoes that are extra wide. I lace them loose near my forefoot and tighter up near my ankle. Of course my orthotics are cut to fit that style of shoe...the only thing that's bad is once your foot is corrected (ie going straight, at least for me) the joint flexes going straight. I don't think it wants to do that especially but for me the only alternative is surgery. I don't want that at this point in my life.

    I envy your determination

I think much of my big toe pain problem is because I had bunion surgery on both feet when I was 20.
