It's like a Secret Santa exchange. Everyone who would like to participate puts their name in the hat - in this case PM the organizer with your name and personal info by a certain date. Right now we're only on the preliminary stage where someone suggests doing one and people weigh in if they want a certain theme. Some of the ones in the past have been water bottles from your local LBS, sharing favorite books, coffee/tea from a local roaster/tea house, winter gear, etc.
Once the theme is decided than the organizer(s) will ask for a head count and ask for pertinent info. Like your size if it's going to be a t-shirt exchange.
