I did twenty-five miles yesterday, but the first six miles were the best so far this year. Why? My husband came out with me! He hadn't been on a bike in fifteen years and having stalled in his weight loss, asked if we could get his bike working again. So, our REI dividend went towards new tires, tubes and brake pads for his '92 Scott hybrid. I put an old Cateye computer on and he was a happy geek. Yesterday was his first ride. The look on his face when we pulled into the driveway afterwards just made my day. I am so proud of him!

That's really cool! Good for him! I tried to get my BF to come out with me for our annual ride, but it's still too cold for him. Instead, I did my new fun route alone.

On the way back from the wildlife sanctuary, I passed (coming toward me) a guy on a tri bike. I knew he was about to make the turn around, and would be passing me soon, given his aerodynamic machine and position. Knowing he was back there, I hauled azz, hoping I'd at least make it to the next turn before he caught me. Well, I made it through the turn, and still no sign of him. Hmmm, I'm wondering....where is he? He *should* have passed me by now.

On my merry way, I occasionally look back to see if he's coming. I climb a few hills, and think, he's gone home. Finally, on the longest descent, he passes. It took him over 3 miles to do it!

Maybe he stopped. Maybe he had a mechanical. Or maybe, just maybe....I was hard to catch.

Then, he missed the next turn, and I was ahead again. This next time, he didn't catch me. I passed him (once more, coming toward me) on my way home.

Really fun ride, faster than I usually go. I felt like a rock star after.
