Laura- How are you feeling?? Hope your over the cold.
Today on my long brick I saw lots of IMAZ peeps out training.

I had to cut 10 miles off my ride today because my right knee was being grumpy. It's been acting up my rides lately, so I'm going to take my bike in and have our resident pro take a look see. My guess is my seat post slipped a bit, or my cleats are off.
The good thing is that I'm fine on the run. I ran for an hour off the bike and had no pain at all. But when I get over about 30 miles on the bike it locks up and gets pretty painful. I HAVE to get that fixed before the big day!!

I think bib numbers are coming tomorrow! YIPPEEE!!!

    Denise,

You definitely better get the bike checked quick if it is bothering your knee! Make sure you are stretching your quads /IT band also. This year I have had more IT band issues than in the past, and am now getting a massage every week to help keep it in check.

I am feeling OK now. After the century last sunday, took a lot of time off during the past week to write a research paper, which is due before I travel for the race. Yesterday just rode 4 hours, 67 mi in a driving head-wind. Ran 45 min afterwards. I was bonking out hard on the ride though. I have been trying to 'reduce calories' the past week and think maybe I went a little too far. I was just out of gas on Sunday. So now I am 'really resting'.....today my 'workout' is a massage and a visit to the chiropractor!

I am excited...nervous...scared. My running has been so tentative, I am really afraid I will hurt (like foot pain) and have no idea what will happen there.

Just turned the bike in for a tune-up...the shop owner here thinks I am paranoid...and he is right!

Good luck getting your stuff together!

It's defintely something w/ the position. I haven't changed anything? But something must have slipped out of place. The good news is my run isn't affected at all.
Our bike mechanic has 18+ years under his belt, and I've watched him fit a couple of guys. He's pretty dang good, so I'm going to have him take a look see. I need him to loosen my rear brake anyway. Running hubby did my tune up and they are way too tight.
All I know is my knee starts barking w/ not even 50 in the tank, so I HAVE to get that fixed!!

Oh- and your not paranoid, you are being SMART!! Normally the next sentence here would be "can't take a chance with your A race"... But I think this is more like a c+ at best for both of us this year. ha ha ha

    Denise,
    Thanks!

Since you now own a bike shop you will appreciate this:

Our LBS employs several young 'mountain bike dudes' who are polite etc but don't work on road bikes. They have one road bike mechanic who I really like and the new shop owner is also very knowledgeable. Well, when I called to schedule my tune-up I wanted only to talk to one of those guys.

When I brought my bike in, one of the young dudes said, can i help you, and tried to take my bike and the shop owner said, man, she doesn't want to talk to you.....I just sort-of laughed and then starting to talk to the owner about what exactly I needed done.

It was a tad awkward but after I starting talking to the owner he was very cool and seemed to understand the level of focus and knowledge I had on what I needed. I guess handing over a *$%ing expensive pair of Zipp wheels helps to communicate that!

So I should get it back on Wednesday, then Friday I drive the bike to Birmingham for Tri BIke Transport to pick up. Will have to let you know how that works out!

    Take care,
    Laura
