I pay $100+ for my shorts. I haven't found any cheaper ones that make me happy on my rides.

I have looked for two days for some new shorts in an XXL size. I really love the shebeest shorts and want another pair, but I swear no one has them in my size.
I know they sell them, I have a pair.
I'm at my wits end. Why does one pair of shorts or 1 nice jersey have to cost soooo much money.
I guess if I want something on sale, I'm just going to have to look everyday. It's enough to make you want to hang it up. I guess when your heavy businesses think you have no style, but even though I'm heavy I'd like to at least feel a little cute in my shorts, without having to pay 100 dollars for them.
Okay, I'm done, I just needed to get all that out. My neck hurts from hunching over this computer for the last couple of days and I'm done.

Maybe you could PM SusanO and ask her if these will go on sale soon? http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=32816
Or offer to write a review of them for a little discount?

Thanks Knotted, I think I will do that.
It's not that I mind spending money on a good pair of shorts, it's just that if I don't know for sure I will like them, then I have a hard time spending that much. Of couse that spending thing caused me to buy a couple of pair that I never wear unless I have to, so I have two pair that I don't care for and am always washing out my shebeest. LOL

I bought a pair of the Shebeest SSS shorts in XXL last spring.
The were on the clearance rack, so I'm pretty sure they're the 2006 model.
Turned out they were a bit too big, so they've only been worn once. Now they're a LOT too big.
Want 'em? They're looking for a good home!

I was at REI last weekend and all the shorts on clearance were the X sizes!
(so there was nothing that I could buy)
Ahhh I hear the pain! Try checking into Terry shorts... they have several models in XXL and seem to range in price from $50-$85.
Hope this helps!
I usually pay between $60-120 for biking bottoms (shorts and capris). I've tried cheaper ones but they seemed flimsy to me or just don't look good on me.
For every biking bottom piece I have kept, I have tried on at least 3 that I have not kept. I spend a lot of dough sending things back. I don't have big stores near me to try things on in. When I find something great online that fits well, I'll buy a second one just to avoid all the hassles of looking again.
You have my sympathy, I know the choices are very limited in XXL size.![]()

I usually wear an XXL in cycling shorts but I found the Sheila Moon shorts to run big so I was able to get a pair of the knickers last year in an XL and they fit great. They are so comfortable I wish I could wear them around the house. (some times I do)Here is the link. http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=29972

Those Sheila Moon shorts are some nice lookin' critters!
And I really like the looks of the knickers.
(must. not. buy. more. stuff.)

I think it's well worth the cost for quality shorts IMO. If I see shorts I like in my size, I buy them. I find with the smaller production runs for larger sizes, that if they're comfortable and have a decent cut then they'll usually get snapped up quickly.
Jerseys, on the other hand, are where I try to save a few bucks. I've been pretty lucky finding a few on the clearance racks at my local outdoor store(not biking specific: REI & Joe's, etc.) and from online discount outdoor gear vendors. If you don't mind not having a back pocket, then check out the tri/running stuff too. They might not be the cutest but I can usually find something I like. I remember someone, DarcyInOregon - I think(Hey,. what happened to her, anyway?), mentioning that they were able to find larger sized jerseys at their local Target too.

Thanks for all the help girls and I will know next time I buy a pair that I really like to go back and buy a second.
Like I said I don't mind paying a bit for them if I know that I will like them. I hate sending things back, and I'm like you Lisa, I don't have a big store around here close to shop at and try things on.
Our local bike shop has shorts but they never carryt he xxl size. I have fussed him about it, but the owner wont' stock things he can't sell. Guess I can't blame him for that. Shoot, he won't even mark down his old stuff, he puts it away and then puts it back out depending on the season. We were in there the other day and I asked the guy that always works that one when they were going to mark the stuff for winter down and he said the owner won't, he'll just put it away and drag it back out next year.
Doesn't make sense to me, but whatever floats his boat. LOL

I feel your pain.
LBSs carry very few things in XL and nothing in XXL. Most of their stuff is XS, S and the occasional M or L.
I live 3 hours from an REI, but I have found some XL stuff there and yes, they're often on clearance.
....I've got Terry shorts, some in XL and some in XXL. I'm not satisfied with them though. The XXL (or is it 1X?)'s I have are too big, the chamois is too big. It's bulky and it bunches up to one side. After 15 miles or so, I may as well be riding on the frame as on the saddle, because that's what it feels like.
But The XL's I have are almost too small. I'm also thinking that my chamois in the older pair of shorts has worn out too fast (fabric bunches to one side).
If anyone finds some XXL's with a minimal chamois, I'd be thinking about buying some.
