    Bicycle dreams/nightmares

Last night I dreamed my bike broke. I was pedalling along, the street was crowded with pedestrians, and suddenly couldn't pedal anymore. I got off my bike, it was dark, under the street light I could see that a couple cables had snapped, and the chain was in three pieces.

What a relief to wake up from that.

I dreamed that I slid sideways into the stupid kid that jumped in front of me on the levee path. Knocked his sorry @$$ down like a bowling ball hitting a pin.
    Rewind to repeat approach,
this time I ride down the grass, kid is still standing there, hands on his hips, laughing. Right up to the point where I jump off my bike, run him down, and shake him silly.

Must have been shaking something, 'cause BonnieCat woke me up meowing angrily. Pet the cat, let her cuddle back, think nice soothing thoughts. Go away kid.

Yikes! That sounds like a nightmare to me. I've had a few bike dreams. Most of them have been really good. I'm usually going really fast on a difficult route and it feels amazing. But I think I had at least one weird one, like I took my bike in the shower with me or something. I don't even want to know what that means.

Was "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" playing in the background?

I always have bike problem dreams the night before big rides (e.g. the MS150). Usually some variation of I've forgotten how to ride a bike, or it's too big and I can't reach the pedals or something else concerning.

I just chalk it up to nerves

oh yeah, I have bike dreams too! Usually they're the a-bit-too-much-to handle-at-the-moment type dreams, which translate into being in the wrong gear, having poor brakes, pedalling and having nothing happen, that sort of thing. Nothing terrible, just that I'm trying to do something and basically going nowhere...

I dreamt my new bike was suddenly made of wood - and then that it was wobbling in the middle so I had to balance the back part separately from the front.

such a bike actually exists - or existed in the possession of a teacher at my school. had two hinges each in the tubes. Scary ride.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
This is my first bicycle nightmare. I tend to have thematic anxiety dreams though, so this might be the next one in the series.

For example, for several years, my anxiety dream was that I was pregnant. For a couple months in 2001 I had terrorist dreams. While we were selling our house/graduating/moving, it was about mowing or long grass. The last few months, it's been about my favorite uncle who died 4 years ago.

If I could choose I think I'd take the bicycle nightmares.
