I'm new to the biking world and I need some help starting out. I'm looking for a bike that is comfortable and is good for recreation. Can someone give me some pointers.

Visit several local bike shops and test ride, test ride and test ride some more.

Seriously, you need first decide what type of riding you are going to be engaged in for this will determine the type of bike you need. Will you ue the bike primarily for commuting? Road rides? Rides around the neighborhood, etc? Second, you need to determine how much you are willing to spend. Bike range from the $500 up to $10,000. Finally, you need to ride several different bikes that will meet your needs and are in your price range to find the one which fits you best.

Good luck and have fun shopping!
