I, too, did the time off before grad school (9 years) and you will be amazed how the past 11 years have matured you and your drive. Focus, direction, life experience and maturity are beautiful assets to have in your academic court! You'll do great!!

I am so eager to learn when the windows are wide open. I felt like as a 20something or other that I would memorize but when it came to understanding, comprehending, and applying, well............... not so much.

All of your thoughts are very encouraging.

I have had cold feet a bit the last couple of days...thoughts like "how will the kids do if I am gone" (like they can't live w/o me) and "will I ever have clean undies again if hubby says he will take over the laundry?" It should be an interesting couple of years. I have decided to use some of my student loan $$ to pay someone to do the deep cleaning - tubs, mopping, etc. I don't want to feel like I am so busy that I can't enjoy my family when I am home. Seems like money well spent.

I think I will head to the store this afternoon and stock up on undies

You will do great! Experience is the greatest teacher. Some of the mid career change teachers I work with are the best professionals I have worked with.
I, too, am waiting to hear about my acceptance into an MA in clinical mental health counseling program. I should hear in the next week or so...
even though I already have a masters in education I am very excited about this career change. I never had the opportunity to quit work and go to school full time to do what I really wanted to do.
Definitely use the loan money to pay for a cleaning person. Your kids will be fine. You will be a good role model for them! I always had something to talk about with my kids when I took classes at night for salary advancement. It was even more meaningful when my older one was in college and I had a really terrible professor who told me my "vision" statement I wrote about my school was crap. I stood up for myself and proved it was taken right from my district's goals. My son said, "Oh Mom, you just have an as***** professor!"

Flybye, I was a much better student in my later years. Even though I worked hard for good grades the first 2 rounds, I found that as I matured, my thought processes did too. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at your performance.
