My sister Christine and then Sabrina both called me this morning as I was going out the door for work. Mom is in the hospital. She had pneumonia and now, I guess because of her weakened state, she had another stroke. I'm going to fly home to Pittsburgh asap. I don't know how long I will be gone. No biking for a while, there goes my training plans, but Mom comes first. Please keep her in your prayers!
Thank you,
Sue

"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure." O. Sacks

Best of positive vibes to you and your family.
It's not an easy thing to come face-to-face with your parents growing older and needing you. You just have to know that you're doing the right thing when you need to do it. Here's hoping your life--and your mom's--are back to normal soon.

I went home to care for my mom.... if doing the right thing were easy, eh? Hang in there.
I spent 5 weeks caring for my mom in '05, it was the hardest and best thing that I have experienced. I will keep you all in my thoughts. Keep us posted if you can.
