I don't post a whole lot but this caught my eye because I am in the caretaker position of someone who is in a similar situation (husband shattered ankle and is on at least 6 + month road to recovery)
I just read the "Reflections" thread and saw some connection here...
You have to do what feels right for you...know your body and try to know if it would damage the recovery you have experienced or will it help your recovery. Your season of racing is not over...it will just be there waiting for you next year. You will look back on this and say "Remember when..."
I have been riding every weekend withOUT my hubby...yeah is sucks!!! and he hates not being able to ride...but that is just the way it is!!! I have to keep remembering that this is temporary...we will ride together again soon! Most of my rides are mtbike so it is just not an option...but yesterday was a road ride (he has been on the trainer and at the track but not on open road) he wanted to go so bad but we both knew it was not a good idea...ended up calling a friend who made us think realistically...hubby stayed home and groomed the dog
You know in your heart was is right for your knee...dig deep and do right!
***hehe...funny story: we are in the process of planning a new master-bathroom while looking at new showers I said we should absolutely get a built in bench...we both chuckled cause we knew one of us may be on crutches again and a built-in bench would be so much nicer than the little medical bench we have been stepping around and over in our shower now (btw: he still needs to use it when showering...no full weight bearing without walking boot on for about another 1-2 months)
