think I need to upgrade my brake calipers.

I cobbled together a road bike off e-bay. I used brake calipers out of my box of "goodies" Shimano 600 calipers circa 1985. It's not dual pivot.

Well today, I almost slammed into a side of a pkup who was making a right hand turn into a parking lot. Haven't we all had this problem??? Problem for me was, my shimano 600 brake is too weak and couldn't come close to locking up my wheels. Not even the rear. And at the time I was cruising at 20MPH (30km/hr). I ended up slapping the side of the truck with my hand.

My TT bike (specialized transition pro) cobbled up off e-bay has SRAM FORCE brake calipers. They are smooth powerful, yet not "grabby". They would have been able to lock my wheels up today.

maybe I'll get a ultegra dual pivot brake 6600 series. Would like SRAM FORCE but they cost $100 more...

I hope the 6600 series are good as the SRAM FORCE.

Upgrade them right away! How scary...

My new Shimano 105 brakes are just great. I have heard, though, that their performance is even better with Kool Stop brake pads, so you might look into those...
