Have you tried PB2, Powdered Peanut Butter?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

My boss at work brought in this powdered peanut butter the other day. I thought he was crazy, but it was actually really good. I am a huge pb fan but hate all the extra fat. What I like about this is that is 75% less fat calories without crazy yucky stuff in it (Ingredients include: Peanuts, salt, sugar (NO preservatives)). You can mix it with water (or directly with jelly) just don't eat it dry, ewy, and it will suck the water right out of you. Enjoy! I found it on bellplantation.com (ebay is twice as expensive).

If you don't mix it with water, it will make your tongue stick to the back of your throat!

Wow! That sounds nifty! Can you imagine the cooking and baking implications?

A friend gave me a jar of this, but I haven't tried it yet. I've been saving it for hiking trips. I'm worried it will be messy to have to mix and stir it and clean the mixing container.
Oil is good, grease is better.

We just whipped it up in a bowl(couple of tsp of powder and a little water). Use a paper plate if you're really lazy. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT let it dry to clean later. Only a hot water soak or jack hammer will get it off your plate. Trust me, though, it's tasty. LBTC, I gotta make some cookies as soon as my case (yeah, I just bought 10 jars) arrives. I will let you know how that goes. If it is any good, I could send you a jar (I will have a couple extra) And it is only a fair trade for all the butterflies you have given me.

This is why you should always bring along a dog or two. They're not much good at mixing and measuring but as clean up crew they're champs!

I haven't tried it yet, but my mom has raved about it - especially for baking. I think mixed into ice cream, vanilla yogurt, or a smoothie, it could be excellent. She has also used it to make ginger-peanut salad dressing (Asian). Mmmmmmm! She's coming to visit in April, and I think she's going to bring me a jar. I'll try to remember to report back!

Emily -- brilliant! Imagine it sprinkled on soy-marinated chicken before grilling? Or mixed into noodles and spinach with sesame seeds? Trying to mix regular peanut butter into those is hard, but this sounds ideal! Do I have to order a whole case???? Yikes!

Now we need some powdered soy nut butter, for those of us who are allergic to peanuts...
I finally found some soy nut butter that doesn't have preservatives, taste like doo-doo, and it tastes just like pb.

The smallest amount you can buy is a 4 pack at the website, but people sell single jars on ebay (twice the cost per jar). Just get two or three other pb eaters to try it with you. I doubt you would have trouble finding a home for the extra jars if you don't like it. It is available in some stores, too. The closest one to here is NY, though. There is a search on the website.

The yogurt and smoothie ideas are GONNA happen. Vanilla designer whey protein shake with peanut butter favoring, WHOO HOO! Now that's a meal.

There are hundreds of recipes out there for cooking and baking with this stuff (cookies, breads, smoothies, stirfries, sauces, etc). I think I have a link on my home computer, so once I get it unpacked, I'll come back and post it here.

I went in with some friends to order this awhile back and I've still got most of the jar left. I've used it in smoothies and it's tasty...but as I'm not a huge PB fan, I'd rather just use a little of the real stuff. It is really good though. All the friends I placed the original order with have since ordered 4 more jars for themselves, they use it that much.

I've heard it rocks when sprinkled on ice cream or frozen yogurt!

Just checked the website that is listed in the very first post... there are over 100 recipes posted there as well. Sounds interesting enough -- I am a HUGE Skippy PB fan, so I'm not sure how I will do with this -- probably excellent for cooking, smoothies, etc., but when it comes to eating straight, really bad for you, creamy PB, I will likely stick to the real thing and deal with the fat and additives! But I am keeping an OPEN MIND!

Totally offtopic, but Jes, just saw in your signature that you're doing the 3-Day. I'm on the bike crew for the Atlanta and Wash DC 3-Days. Might have to add Seattle next year!

    3-day

Hey Pedal Wrench... that's awesome! I noticed all those bikers last year.. especially because we started DEAD LAST, and the poor bike lady had to stay behind us, "bringing up the rear", so to say! Isn't it an amazing experience? This will be my third walking -- I might try to crew next year. Have fun on yours!

OK... back to Peanut Butter -- or the powdered stuff, anyway!
