Today my day for the treadmill. After the 5 minute warm up I ran 1 minute at 5mph. I had trouble finding a rhythm and was practiclly out of breath. I then walked 5 minutes, and my next run was better and went for 2 minutes. I did this 2 run; 5 walk until I hit 5 minutes. My last run I went for 3 minutes and I felt so much smoother. I think the 3 minute run might work well for my next workout with the 5 minute walks in between.

    GOOD JOB!!!!

Very soon you will be telling us, "I ran my first mile today"!

Yea, for my longer runs... over 5-6 miles... I do a 5 minute walk and 2 minute run combo. I will typically average around a 11:30 minute mile doing this. It really makes my long runs tolerable.

Thanks KSH, I am taking it slow and on my own little time line if I can call it that. Anyway, when I do run my first mile, it will be very exciting.

Your routine for longer miles of a walk/ run sounds like a very good one and something I plan to keep in mind.

Thanks for the kind words, ladies! Yeah, I need to lighten up on myself, and I normally do just run for time on my trail runs, but my DH suggested the stopwatch so I could pace myself for longer runs (i.e., not start off at a pace I couldn't maintain). It may work for him, but I think it just stresses me out!

I was in good spirits today, though, and don't fault myself for having a bad day yesterday. I'm a typical first-born, type A, high achiever sort, so I am way too hard on myself. Need to get over that!

I am looking forward to tomorrow's run.
