okee dokee...I will try the dish washing detergent (I think my chain is as clean as it's going to get...I've been cleaning it just about every 5th ride or so...plus I cleaned the whole cassette before I did Reach the Beach last month). I bent over and brushed my cute little blue jacket against the chain (baby blue, of course) and voila!! Grease Monkey
I get to have pizza after this, right? No...wait...cheesecake....
Good luck, I hope it comes out!Originally Posted by Lynne
For a while I thought that Tri-Flow was cleaning as well as lubing my chain. My husband would scold me for having a dirty drivetrain, so I'd take a big long blast of Tri-Flow to it! Well, all I was doing was putting so much excess lube that it was attracting MORE grime! Now I'm trying to use Simple Green and scrub down the chain and cassette weekly (about every 5th ride, like you) and use only a 2-second blast of lube. Got a rookie mark yesterday, due for a cleaning...

another great grease remover is a product called "Soilove"... green bottle and cheap! works like a charm...
now if it would take grease out from under my fingernails... UGH! I GOTTA start wearing gloves when I clean the chain!
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
