I figured it'd be windy that day. It was super windy in Placerville the night before and day of. It's a very beautiful ride...glad you did so well!

I heard about a "beer can incident" from a friend that did the ride. Apparently some bozo in a truck hucked a full beer at a cyclist and the cyclist went down. Apparently they got the bozo and arrested him for assault or some such thing.

Sierra Century was tame by comparison. We just got the finger a few times.

I figure these folks are out of shape light-beer drinking smokers that are insecure about their health and are trying to make themselves feel better by trying to scare or otherwise annoy cyclists.

way to go HS!........doesn't it give you a feeling of accomplishment to know you bested yourself from last year? Tell me about the winds - with our mountains and canyons there are days every direction is a headwind and sometimes I just want to cry. But when I tough it out oh what a feelin!

    Thanks for sharing!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
