Juuuust kissing up to my arbitrary $500 limit for a commuter bike, but it's steel, too:

(I have 4 bikes, someone stop me. Well, no, I'm performing this virtual-shopping commuter bike search as a form of public service, so I can keep looking. yeah, that's it...)

Yes, one simply *must* have a wicker basket on the handle bars when passing racer-boys on the bike trail, with a merrily jingling bike bell and singing out "on your left!"
Skirt, sandals, and blowing kisses optional.
(I have noticed that the really fast riders I can't get past, or even catch up to, are ususally the "Freds" on rather battered older bikes. I bow to their bike-iness)
I've seen a few bungee nets for handlebar baskets, so commuters or utility riders don't have to worry about their stuff bouncing out.

all of them seem VERY reasonably priced if you ask me...
course I vote for the coda...as i LOVE my aurora...and I rode a coda (for size check) and found it good...
my specialized globe was 700. and its aluminum(before I realized I even had a choice and what that choice meant) but it DOES have 8 internal gears...lovely sealed hub...extraordinary shifting ease....
and you're being far more reasonable than I...who, STILL stuck in virus ville, is unable to ride and so is "shopping" for my custom handbuilt...luna? sweetpea? co-motion??![]()
