Alu seatpost on a carbon frame?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I just ordered a carbon bike and am anxiously awaiting its delivery. I think it's possible I may need a setback seatpost, and I just happen to have a Thompson Masterpiece setback post on the bike I'm going to sell.

Are there any issues or concerns using an aluminum post in a carbon frame?

    Thanks!

I think it's quite common. In part because you can't clip anything (like a temporary rack or a baby carrier) to a carbon seatpost...

But there may be issues I'm not aware of...

My team rides Thompson seatposts, and most of us have carbon bikes & I've never heard of any issues.
