I have a hair question. Anyone have blonde highlights? What happens to your colour when you're in the pool so much? I need to get highlights back in my mousy brown hair and now that I'm swimming three times a week, I'm a little worried about turning green like my blondie daughters used to...

What helps me, I don't have blond but some color, is use a purifying shampoo and deep conditioner once a week. I am a HUGE fan of PureOlogy. If your interested in trying some let me know. I can send you some at cost. Otherwise I know Aveda has a good one also.

Always wet your hair with "normal" water and put conditioner in it before you get in the pool. It acts like a barrier from the pool water.

I need to start working on defined workouts. Today I was in a small pool (20') and the dogpaddlers were wayward. I was tired anyway so I just warmed up, did some open water laps (no lane dividers so I just swam in circles), then worked on bilateral breathing. For a while, also, I practiced just breathing on my weak side.

It isn't as good as a structured workout but it was all I had the energy for And, it was 40 minutes of practice.

We had another 1K time trial last night.

I moaned because the coach had said we did not have to do it if we did the one in January but then obliged.

    I did 18:40.
    The first 100 in 1:43
    500 in 9:30 -

    That means
    a) a negative split (if one can talk about this in swimming)
    b) I took off 2:10 from the January TT
    c) all of that on the second 500!

I feel much stronger on the catch these days, have improved the push-through phase although I am sure that could be improved.

3100 m this morning. I nearly didn't go. There was a trange beeping sound in my house last night that I have yet to diagnose. I would wake up to the beep, then it would stop so I couldn't figure out what it was. I'd fall asleep and wake up again to the beep... Anyway, we're trying to up the speed and we're doing 200's, 100's and 50's. I was holding 44 to 45 on my 50s. I have a goal of breaking a 1:30 100. I think I'm getting close.
