are we talking biscuit/scone type thing? Or cookies? Then there are angel biscuits that have yeast in them - best ones I ever had were cooked in a cast iron dutch oven while camping. Or maybe it was just having hot fresh bread while camping. Despite our camp cook, THOSE were great!

    Sweet or not sweet?

I LUV biscuits!!! for breakfast with lots of butter and jam.

Sounds like they are being overworked.
I used to work for KFC back in the day (teenage day that is) and I was known as the best biscuit maker. My trick was making sure that the cold ingredients were ice cold, and I didn't work the dough too much.

Also try using pastry flour instead of all-purpose.

I don't have a recipe myself, but I do like these two cooking websites. Here's what I came up with doing a search 'southern biscuits'. I like that people can rate adn comment of the recipes after trying them.

I would love to try. The girls here at work gave me their recipes, tried them but I still am looking.
