I don't usually complain about the weather, but yesterday's was really weird. Bursts of snow and high winds were predicted from mid to late afternoon into the night. So we made plans with friends to snow shoe at noon, since there was about 2 inches of fresh snow. At 11:20, it started raining, really pouring, so we cancelled those plans. As we sat in our Ibex, we decided that after lunch we would do our short fitness walk in the rain. So, after getting out the cycling rain gear and waterproof hiking shoes, out we went. It was about 36 out. As soon as we got to the road, there was a gust of wind up to about 30 mph and it thundered! Then as we walked, the rain turned to snow. First it was just sleety, and then it was thick snow flakes. My legs felt cold, even with my Ibex wool, wind proof pants. There were more claps of thunder and wind gusts. By the time we turned back, we headed up the steep part of the hill, the snow stopped and the wind calmed down. When we got back to the house the sun was out! In 45 minutes, we had seen 4 types of weather.
The rest of the afternoon continued with alternating sun, snow showers, wind, and thunder. It is now 8 degrees and windy out, of course, on the day I have to go to a meeting in Cambridge and walk 5 city blocks from the train.
