Dh's present to the kids on Christmas morning. Obviously not quite done but it still looks cute in the freshly fallen Christmas morning snow. Oh....and now, 13 hours later....it's still snowing!

We haven't had THIS much snow since 1997!
Today is the third day with no school because of the snow. The drifting is unbelievable. 6-7 feet tall in some places! The weather let up and the sun came out long enough to take some pictures. The wind is still blowing like crazy.
The first two pictures are or our backyard. We have a 6 ft. fence and there is one drift that topped the fence this morning!
The next two are our front fence that leads to the backyard on the same side.
The last picture is of the fence at the end of the street. Again, a six foot fence!
We don't have 6 foot of snow on the flats, just in the drifts.

Snow pictures, part 2
I could barely keep my peepers open for the first picutre because of the wind and sun. I am standing behind the drift!
The second, third and fourth pictures are from the end of the street, where the snow drifted from the field.
The fences in the last two pictures are 6 foot fences that you can walk right over the top of!
Last picture is windblown me on the drift.

We've been getting the same storms as you guys. We finally have a break. It's 35 and sunny out there. Whooppeeee!!
The snow walls along the driveway where the snowplow has come through are well over 6 feet in some places. We haven't seen the lower part of our back stairs in weeks!
There's a box on the solar array that has manual controls in it for when I need to move the array to dump snow, avoid wind, etc. The box is about 6 feet off of the ground. In the summer I have to reach up for it. Right now it's about 1 foot above the snow. Wow. I agree with Flybye, 1997 was the last time we had this much snow.

It sure is nice to be getting some moisture, though. The infamous "they" say that the snow pack in the mountains is above 100% - much needed after years of drought. We sit on top of the largest aquafir in the US, if I remember correctly.

I have no snow! And guess what? It is supposed to be 72 here today! That is the warmest it has been in a long time. Not bragging I swear! Just sharing.

Egads....I'll be going out to shovel the 2" sitting on my driveway up onto the pile of snow that is *only* 5' tall and count my blessings that that is all I've got. A couple of pictures like really that put things in perspective...a 15" snow fall is nothing, in comparison.
