    A mystery

On my way home after an evening class last night, I came up behind another cyclist. First thing I noticed was though he didn't have rear blinkie or front light, he had a flashlight hanging from a zipper or something. It was surprisingly effective.

Second thing I noticed was he stopped at every stop sign, even the one at the pedestrian crossing that I sometimes blow through (if there are no peds). He rode on the street, not the sidewalk.

No helmet. So I'm puzzled. I don't think he took the Road I course, or he'd have gotten proper lights and would have been wearing a helmet. But he knew enough to ride on the street and stop at stop signs.

I got 22 miles in last night. I left work and headed toward the train station to meet George who was doing a ride/train/ride yesterday instead of the full commute so he can save his legs for a crit on Sunday. We met up close to the station and headed home.

Anyway...things I learned...drafting in the dark is harder! I had the NiteRider MiNewt Dual on and eventually just angled one of the lights directly on his rear wheel so I could see how close I was. We kept a good pace and I received ample praise for staying on his wheel at 23-26 mph in the dark. I think he was trying to drop me!

Good ride with good company. Not much talking, but I always love getting rides in with him.
