The Mollie jacket is definitely heavier than the Carrie hoody. I thought the Mollie fit was kind of weird though. It ran kind of small. I like the Bregenz much better.

FYI, I tried on the mollie jacket, carrie hoodie and bella vest in a store recently. If I were buying them, I would probably go with Mediums to layer over my Small shak, although the store I was at didn't have them in smalls to compare. The Mollie Jacket is very heavy, its a real wool coat, much heavier than the carrie hoodie. I am a 4-6 on the bottom and 6-8 on top (depending on brand). I am a solid small on top on all other pieces I tried in ibex (shak, kate, ribbie), icebreaker, and llbean, but when I want a piece to layer over something heavy I buy medium (like my PI gavia jacket, PI vagabound II jacket, and craft rain jacket).

The Mollie fabric must be a lot denser than the old Switchback fabric. Sandra, if you don't like the Mollie, let's compare sizes and such. Cuz I thought it was pretty spiffy looking and it was my size, and heavy wool is a good thing to have up here.

(so if you decide to send it back, PM me first, please!)

I forgot to add that I still think the full zip shak is the best piece to have if you are only gonna own one because of its versatility. Uncle Dan's still has them on sale. Its a a good mid-weight sweater. The kate is a light base, the ribbie is a mid-weight base (both layer nicely under shak), the shak is a mid-weight sweater, the carrie hoodie is also a mid-weight sweater more casual than the shak, while the mollie a heavy weight jacket/short coat. I would layer the carrie hoodie over either a base or shak, and the mollie definitely over a shak and carrie hoodie.

Hey New England gals, save something to buy tomorrow! We expect a full report.
