I think I can see spring sorta coming, and my spirits are very lifted! Got in a short 14 miler at the lake. Wind was low (only about 10 mph- as opposed to the 3-40 mph winds we've been having lately). Temp in the mid 50's. Soooooo nice!![]()

DH and I did a lazy ride down to the shop and back. 19 miles, 14 mph pace.
DH had Pepper work on his wheel, which was slightly out of true, and adjust his handlebars. DH mentioned that I was eyeing a used single speed mountain bike frame (a Surly 1x1) on Craigslist. Well, the shop guys just let me have an earful about why I'm better off trying before I buy, and on and on about SS's in general. I swear, sometimes it's a pain being friends with the LBS. On one hand, you're treated like family when you walk in the door.On the other, they are not bashful giving you their REAL opinions on things...particularly about buying used (gasp!) bike stuff.

Got in 16.6 miles. Had hoped for a longer ride because it was a beautiful, if chilly, morning. But had yet another dog come after me. Trying to dismount to get the bike between us, didn't unclip, and fell. He circled around and was headed for me when I managed to get my Halt! in my hand. Apparently he had seen the can before because he immediately backed off.
I ended up with a skinned elbow and some bruises but was much better than the alternative.
I like dogs, but lately they don't seem to like me.
Went for a leisurly 20 mile ride around town and ended up at Legion park at the north end of Everett. It was a little cool (low 40s) and the skies were overcast, but the view of the cascades over the marina was stunning. I won't reveal my average speed since it was only a nudge faster than a snail might go. Those hills just kill me.
Woohoo! Actually have a real road ride to report...first one since September.
36 degrees, 80% humidity, fortunately only light wind
Feet still pretty cold by the end, despite smart wool, neoprene full covers, with calientoes wind blockers underneath.
23.49 miles, almost all flat today, with one short 189 foot elevation gain hill at end.
23.49 miles...and today was my "long ride" day...LOL...oh well...summer will be here in 6 months or so!![]()

Had a great ride today. Our plan was to get up and start before first light, but my kids were going to be coming home later so we were able to get some much needed sleep.
We drove out to Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) and parked at the top with our new Forest Service Adventure Pass. We warmed up with an 8.3 mile descent down the road. Okay, it was nowhere near warm, but we got to spin our legs a little before the first climb.
Today we were not trying to hammer the climb, but pay attention to our power meters and get some real training in. We climbed the road twice for a total of 33.5 miles and 4780 ft of climbing.
Oh...and on our way down we saw Tinker Juarez climbing! I made George turn the car around because I'm a dork like that...and I wanted to see if he was in his big chain ring. He was!
Me...happy that George allowed me be starstruck by Tinker and take a picture.

26.6 miles. Just a bit warmer than last week. Strange that today I thought that 34 degrees was more than warm enough.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Saturday = race day
So I did a 37km circuitt race on my Saturday... Its 3 laps and the last two times I have raced and completed this course I was dropped in the first half of the first lap.
I was not dropped until half way through the second lap this time, so I feel really good about it. An excellent intense training ride for me, and with my warm up and cool down I was able to log 55km on BikeJ.
My partner was 3rd in his grade, and my 14yo was 2nd in his. There was a big crash about 15 bikes went down) in my son's grade on the last corner before the finishing straight so was very relieved that that he was NOT brought down. He was pleased that none of his cycling mates were hurt - we had to do a ring around of a few we hadn't seen finish just to check up.
Two were taken away in an ambulance with minor injuries, and it is always a strange sigh of relief one breathes when one realises the ambulance is not for one of your own.
