    oh,this is a good topic.

My sister was born on Valentine's Day. I was born 4 years and 2 days later.

i always had a bit of resentment that she was born on a "special" day and I was not. I've never put much importance on Valentine's Day, since it's more my sister's Birthday, than a special romantic day. I also don't really like heart shaped things because she always got lots of them. *second child pouting*

so I married mr. Silver whose birthday is exactly 7 days (although almost two years older) prior to mine. then my sister married a guy whose birthday is on the 6th of Feb.

so our collective birthdays are February 6, 9, 14, 16.

My kids are born 3 days short of three years apart. September 13, 1990 and September 9, 1993. silverson's birthday ends up being 9/9/93. So he turned 6 on 9/9/99. I made a cake for him the was a 6 turned one way and a 9 turned upside down. He was also born in Room 9 at the hospital at 8:09 am.

My nephew was born on 12/31/99, last day of the millenium.

I recall reading somewhere, that if you put any 27 random people in a room (I think 27 is the number), 2 people will share the same birthday.

Both my mother and my BIL have Sept. 9 b'days.

DH and I share a sad date, too....both of our dads died on Oct. 24th, 3 years apart.

My husband was born on 9/26/56. His brother was born on 9/26/66.
My oldest son (1st child) was born on 10/09/82. My brother in law's oldest son (1st child) was born on 10/09/90.

When the nurses at the hospital where my nephew was born found out about this, a reporter from the Mesa Tribune interviewed them and then called us in MA (we had just moved here). There was a really nice article in the Mesa Tribune about my husband and his brother.

If you get into genealogy you will find lots of strange "coincidences" of births.
each of my sons shares a birthday with a great grandparent or great great grandparent.

Yup, it's 26 or 27 I can't remember which. And the probability is greater than 95%. And that's just random chance. Birthdays in families are not totally random, they are affected by custom, sometimes intentionally in cultures that put a lot of stock in numerology but also subconsciously. My self and all 4 of my siblings have birthdays close together. My parents always told up that it was because of all the Christmas parties. We were all born in late Sept/early Oct.

Yes, it's strange. My family was heavy on April and Dec. birthdays, and I married into a family with the same tendencies. Both my step-parents follow the same trend too. Here are the b-days:

    FIL - April 3
    Me - April 7
    Nephew - April 13
    BIL - April 15
    Brother - April 20

    DH - Dec. 3
    Father - Dec. 7
    Step-father - Dec. 12
    Step-mom - Dec. 14

It's not everyone in the family (my Mom's b-day is Nov. 2, and MIL's is Jan. 6), but it's enough to make April and Dec. very busy and festive!
