3.5 miles today and I am done for the week

I felt like I was going so slow I was running backwards. It hurt so I ended up jumping on a trail next to the paved surface that I run on. The trail felt better and in a lot of ways, it's good for me to run on it. The half-marathon I'll be doing has about 4-5 miles of trail running in it. Civilized trail though, I think. Park trail.

After feeling like a sloth, I got home to enter all my info in my log. It turns out I was 3 minutes faster than the last time I did that route. Go figure. I guess I don't suck as much as I thought I did!

3.25 miles running, .5 walking on the treadmill today. Sunday I'm running outside on the trails -- great weather a-coming. Woohoo!

    Have a good weekend, all!

Well, the weather here was horrendous today (sleet/ice/cold rain--yuck!), so I didn't run. I thought about it but decided it was probably not a good idea given that the sleet was accumulating in a slippery layer of slush. Fortunately, tomorrow is supposed to be nice.

Another regular half-hour neighborhood run today. It's not all that cold here but it's still sort of cloudy and I had quite a headwind during parts of the run! Maybe that's why today's run felt harder than usual, or maybe it's just from not having run much this past week.

Finally got out after taking almost 2 entire weeks off. I did a very slow 6 mile run with the running club. Felt surprisingly okay. I think the fresh air did me good.

I went for gentle 1.6 km walk/run today and see if my shins could handle t. I walked for 5 min then did 1:00 walk/run intervals. My shins hurt for the first minute and then felt fine. Two hours later I'm still feeling good.

It was a busy week with several kid evening activities and one work evening work function. So as a result I only got a couple of runs in. But that's OK this week should be more relaxed.

It feels great to have reached "that place" where I don't feel like I've lost it when I get off schedule for a few days.

Putting a whole lot of things to the test this morning.

Intervals, with shorter recoveries than I'd done before, in my new shoes, with slightly premenstrual boobs in a new CW-X sports bra.

    Verdict:

Shorter recoveries: I actually took this step because my HR has been coming down so much faster than it used to! One minute recovery is now just enough for it to come down to 75% of max even in the later intervals. And the efforts were faster than I've ever done before! Woo-hoo!

Shoes (take 2): my left arch hurts a bit, but it was still a little tweaked from the other day. My right foot feels fine, though arch pain doesn't always show up until the next day for me. So we'll see.

Bra: not bad, but I still prefer a cheaper compression bra in a 34A-B for my 35-lower case b-for-bouncy boobs, even if it does leave flab spilling out all over my armpits. I wondered about that when I bought the CW-X which is sized 34B-C, but I thought I'd give the fancy suspension a try.

All in all a good short run (3.6) with almost enough time to stop sweating between getting out of the shower and riding the bike to church

Oh, and... no groundhogs here, but the alligator saw its shadow

Here in Texas it's like summer has hit for the weekend! 2 days in a row of 70-75 degree weather.

    1hour 46minutes
    8.40 miles
    12m 37s /mile

Woke at up 7:00 AM and was on the road by 7:20 AM.

I decided to do a 5 minute walk and 2 minute run combo. Worked out nicely.

I took in a gel at the start and then a gel half way through. I had gone to bed a little hungry and didn't eat before I went on my run.

Overall not a painful walk/run... except for my right achilles. WOAH! That's hurting something fierce. It started at the run on Friday and I felt it at the start of today. It just got worse as the run went on and hurts pretty bad now, even 6 hours after the run. I iced it down some, but it didn't help much.
