Daylight pictures are going to wait awhile...snow, clouds and generally dreary forecast for several days yet. Needless to say I was so thrilled, I just *had* to post the preliminary pictures.

It is a steel Waterford. It is a RS-33 model. The oversized down tube makes you look twice, but it is steel and it is lighter than my aluminum. I'm really looking forward to the gentler ride of steel. And, of course, the Campy shifting (although, I embarassed myself in the shop by forgetting how it worked ). I was afraid that given that it is basically a 58cm vertically and a 52cm horizontally that it would be a funny looking frame. But I think she turned out pretty nice.

The saddle is the Selle SMP Lady Strike of this thread's fame ( http://forums.teamestrogen.com/showthread.php?t=20637 ). It is one of the few saddles around that is wide in the back and has a generous cutout. You get 3-point pelvis support and it gets out of the way where you want the saddle to get out of the way.

Ah, the naming....the current thought is Galanas which is the Welsh equivalent of Weregild which is the old English for Blood Money....the price that is demanded of a person guilty of homicide. Galanas sounds less harsh, seems to have the nicest "roll of the tongue" and, of course there is the foreign word cache'

Why? Eons ago I had a good job. A happy job. But, the company was purchased by a large multi-national firm. They killed my job, but I stayed there for the 2 years it took to vest my stock options. I then took that money and used it to increase my quality of life--the Waterford is one of those things. Hence, blood money, but Galanas sounds so much nicer.

    And, she says "Hi"

Yay [purpley, Campy equipped] steel bikes made in Wisconsin!
    ..more photos and specs, please!

Sadly I am STILL getting over the flu (its been over a week..) and haven't been on the trainer in a while. Sigh. I'm trying to not even *think* about the weather...

More photos when (or if) the weather clears (8-10 inches tomorrow night!!!! ). Sigh...

Specs? It started as all "Chorus" and became a blend I guess described as "Campano-plus". The only carbon parts on the bike are the brake levers and the cage on the derraileur. Everything else is metal. Not to start a material war, but I can be kinda hard on things and I feel more confident with metal. Maybe a false confidence, but that doesn't matter--placebos come in formats other than drugs.

The derraileurs and shifters are Campy Chorus, but the cranks are Shimano Ultegra with FSA triple chainrings. Originally she was going to have FSA cranks, but we swapped to Ultegra when we couldn't get the crank we wanted. I kinda like that my bike isn't "pure bred"--makes her more open-minded

The wheels are Velocity Aero on DT Swiss 240s hubs. The LBS built the wheels for me--I wanted servicable, reliable wheels. Thomson seatpost and stem with a Cane Creek headset and FSA Wing Pro handlebars (nice bars!). Really, she's not a purebred.

I haven't decided if the fact that I can rattle of the specs on my bike is a good thing or wierd. I learned a ton picking out the parts even though, quite frankly, I pretty much followed the advice of the LBS.

While I won't be able to ride for a couple of months, plotting out this bike and taking delivery has at least given me a bright spot in an otherwise really cold, snowy, flu-infested winter. Hope yours, Beane, gets better.
