I am looking for anyone who would like to put their name on me. I'm a triathlete, and this last summer was my second go at triathlons (but my first real season since I spent a month in Argentina the summer before).
    Results were really good:
2 firsts overall, 2 second places overall, age group long course champion 2007, and worlds qualifier for worlds 2007 and 2008.
My first big race is going to be Collegiate National Championships, for which I will have more training than I had mid-season last season, so it should be really good.

In August I'm going to ITU Long Course World Championships in Almere, Holland, and I REALLY need help getting there.

I'm a broke college student, so I will be extremely appreciative of ANYTHING (I'm studying Mechanical Engineering with a finished Minor in Spanish, with an excellent gpa of 3.55 overall)

    Thanks ahead!

Here's a few places you might try out

these guys are one of our sponsors - they are great! They've got a male triathlete, who like you is a student - maybe try the you should have a woman too angle

Gu sports is pretty free with their sponsorships
    http://www.gusports.com/html/sponsorship.htm

    so is Cliff Bar

and these are just a few suggestions - any product that you use and like is a potential sponsor and many already have sponsorship programs in place.

Some might not give you money, but products go a long way to lightening your financial burden too.

Have you looked into the Athlete's for a Cure website. They offer programs to get people help with racing costs depending on donations to AFAC and anyone can donate in your name.

I'll try to get the link for you later.

    The program is
Athletes for a Cure, Live like a pro.

ETA: here's the link but on closer inspection of the program, I'm not sure that this will be very helpful. You might want to contact AFAC though and see if they can help you.

First stop should be your local bike or multi-sport store. They can help you with industry contacts too.

    Post a profile at sponsorhouse.com

If you're looking for cash sponsorship, work with non-industry sources.

If you haven't already created a proposal, do so now. Make sure that you emphasize what you can/will do for your sponsor. What is their return on investment?

Find a pro triathlete who will let you pick their brain about sponsorship.

Make sure you review the eligibility requirements for collegiate racing. Don't jeopardize your eligibility by receiving sponsorship. I don't know the collegiate tri rules, but check them out before accepting any sponsorship contracts.

    Good luck to you!
