    Flu!!

We finally have a flu outbreak here. It's rather nasty--the type A flu. People develop symptoms in a few hours and then they're toast. The area schools are shutting down because it's so bad.

Remember to wash your hands like crazy and if need be, wear a mask.

Kids are starting to drop like flies in the schools around here, too.

I had it. I was fine at 4 and by 630 I had fever and chills. Truly no warning. That was 2 weeks ago, i'm fine now.

Flybye, I'm hoping that my sinus rinse thingy will keep the bugs away, lol. Do you think you'll escape the flu using yours?

Mimi, glad you are ok. How long did it take to get over yours?

I've never had the flu. I've never had the chicken pox. But I have been hit by lightning.

I had the same flu. It was awful. In bed for 5 days, completely better about 4 days later.

It dragged me down for a good 10 days but I was able to get back to work after a 4 day weekend, but the nose kept running a bit and the crud, well, some of that is still there!!!

I wish my students would start dropping like flies. Especially if I get to choose which ones.... (J/K!!!).

I've got it myself...called in to work, no bike commuting per gf for the next few days! Bummer! Funny thing is that I got a flu shot, but the flu shot doesn't completely eliminate your chances of not getting sick.

You are right! This is exactly why I choose to not get the flu shot. Each year the Flu Powers That Be determine what strain is likely to hit and they manufacture the vaccine accordingly. I would rather treat the symptoms than play chance with a vaccine that could render unpleasant side effects.

and unfortunately for me, the powers that be were wrong in viral strain choice......wrong,wrong,wrong

i only get the shot since i'm considered "chronically ill".

many of my coworkers don't get the shot either...and they, like myself, work in the medical field.....

A week ago I had a less-than-24-hour flu. Upchucked through the evening, but by morning, no symptoms of any kind...fever, ache, etc. Was just tired. It passed quickly.

One time I was chased down by the med nurse and she cornered me. Then she gave me the flu shot.
