wow, when I was looking for a paint scheme, i went to my LBS, but also, try the Mercian bike website. If I think of more, I'll be back. Marinoni too. also Trek has a pretty fun bike painting website.

I'm currently building a steel racing bike and i want to give it a classic paint scheme that suit the frame/bike (although this is personal i realize).
When i look at Richard Sachs and Joe Bell i see loads of paint schemes, but for some reason i don't get real excited about it.
Do any of you galls have more sites that i can have a look and hopefully be inspired.
Thanks.

Why limit yourself? What colors do you like? Match or compliment your favorite jersey or even coffee mug. Have fun and we want to see the bike photos.

Mimitabby,
Could you please give me the links of the sites you mention as i'm curious :-)
Trek420,
Well i realize i could just paint it any colour i like however this is a classic bike and build as such and the diameter of the tubing is moderate to say the least so this limits the choice in colours and schemes at least in my eyes.
Also i feel a classic looking frame can get just a few nice colours that 'suit' the bike, but then again i just spotted a purple bike with chrome and on the picture at least is just love.
I'm trying to see as much paint schemes on bikes as i can just to get a good impression of what fits and what not.
Here are some pix of schemes i like the purple one actually sets me on fire, but it's just a pic can't say how it looks in real.
According to the owner it's a knockout ....
I didn't argue that one :-)

To me, the red Marinoni totally says "classic", with the white head tube to match the seat tube graphics.
Oil is good, grease is better.

British Racing Green with off white decals/stripes
Beautiful
I know this is probably 'the' most classic best suited paintjob and yet ......
Well time will tell.
Maybe the painter can do some sample paints on the frame to get a good impression as like i said a picture is just a picture.
Thanks for the feedback.
British racing green ...
Well if i had a truimph classic car or better a Caterham :-)
Again i will ask my painter to suplly some samples and when i know more i'll post some pix.
Now only about 4 months to wait for the frame set :-)

Oh, that dark Colnagooooooooo.........oooh, soooo sweet!!!
(but my knees hurt just looking at that gearing!)
My DH looked to Spectrum Cycles when he got his bike custom painted.
Here is a link to their gallery.
You might want to do a search for photo galleries of classic and handmade bicycle shows in CA and OR, etc. There you will see LOTS of classic bike color schemes.
