I did run the whole way without stopping, although I slowed down (from my already slow pace) during the water stops. They had them every mile, and every 2 miles they had Ultima. I drank at most of them (Ultima when possible, even though it didn't taste very good) and for the last few miles I was grabbing two cups per stop. At the first stop I spilled cold water all over myself, so after that I figured out that I spilled less if I squeezed the cup and drank from the resulting spout. I definitely recommend taking a gel or whatever you can handle.

The experience was very similar to getting my tattoo in that while it was happening (or at least during miles 10-12) I was thinking that there is no way I will ever subject myself to this again......... but as soon as I was finished I was ready to sign up for another one.

Congratulations! It sounds like you did great. That 10-12 mile segment is always the worst. Glad you were able to push through!

Awesome job! Crossing that finish line for a new distance is always an amazing feeling. As a fellow BOP'er, any finish is a good finish - first, last or wherever in between. A half marathon is a lot of running. Congratulations!

Good job FL!! Nice first half mary.

I didn't think that Ultima still existed. Last time I had it at an event was in '97. Even then we made jokes about how it tasted like turtle p!ss. Sorry you had to drink it.

    So when's the next race?

    Thanks everyone!

Next race is an olympic tri on 3/22, but I'll probably try to squeeze in a sprint tri sometime next month. I think my next running race will be a 10k in April. I will definitely do another 1/2, but probably not until later in the year.

    Great job Frog!!!
And a half mary on only nine weeks with no base over 4??? WOW!
Of course your tri training REALLY does help.

And Teigyr may I suggest Clif Luna Moons instead of clif blocks. They are smaller (moon shaped even) and easier to eat on the run. Not as sticky either.
They come in watermelon, pomegranite, and blueberry flavors.
    I LOVE them!!
