Tights below 40 degrees?

I also wear Pearl Izumi Amfib tights for temps below 40. As was already mentioned I start to overheat in them above 40. For temps around 40 I wear Under Armour Frosty Tights.

UnderArmor unpadded shorts, Ibex wool long underwear, Rivendell MUSA pants.

With those three layers I'm pretty happy in cooler temps.

with tights and knickers, i'm apt to wear wool kneesocks too
and booties the kneesocks are great because if you get too hot you can roll them down.

I wear Amfib tights too (very happy with them) and go straight to ankle length leg warmers when the Amfibs are too warm.

I've gone into the upper 20's with Boure's thermo tight (light fleece lining)
( http://www.boure.com/2656.html ). Great tight for the tall--claims a wonderful 33" inseam and, yes, it really does.

I have a pair of Terry thermal tights that work wonderfully in temps below 40F.

I also own a pair of heavyweight Ibex wool tights that have a windblocker facing on the front. Don't know the model name---I got them online from a ski shop that was clearing out a few odds and ends.

About a week ago we had a windy day in the mid-20s; I combined the Ibex tights with a pair of light Smartwool bottoms underneath. Perfectly toasty!

I have three different tights: Shebeest Windpro, Sugoi Subzero and Sugoi Helix. Despite being the thinnest and cheapest of the lot, the Helix are my favorite, no matter the temperature. Above 40, I wear shorts under them. Below, I wear knickers. I've gotten either too cold (the Windpros) or chafed (the Subzero's have a seam in the crotch that bothers me) with the others.
