    Talking New Bike is Here!

WooHoo! I picked up my new Ruby Pro today after work!

Had gotten the call on Tuesday that my bike was in, but knew that I was going to be busy this week and would just sit here looking at it wishing I could ride, so I waited until today to go get it and do the final fit.

She is SOOOOO purdy! I hadn't actually gotten to see my exact model in person (rode a lower level one when test riding). The thing you couldn't see in the photos is that there is acatually a little bit of sparkle in the paint job... really nice and subtle.

Spent a while with Tad, my new favorite bike shop guy, choosing new pedals, finding a good saddle, and doing final fit tweeks. It was nice to not have to do a really extensive fit at this point since we spent a lot of time fitting me on the bike I test rode so he built my bike with the exact same measurements. Switched to Speedplay X2 pedals. Took a little bit of time to find the cleats on the bottom of my shoes, but so far so good. Didn't really like the expensive Ruby saddle that came on the bike. It was OK at first, but then the front end of the cut out was putting pressure on the girly bits. Tried a couple of other saddles, and ended up with the Specialized Toupe Team (basically the men's version of the Ruby saddle). We will see how it goes when I ride it on a ride, other wise Tad said to bring it back in and we will try something else.

Unfortunately the weather was a mess this afternoon... lots of rain and cold (well cold for Houston, in the 40s), so I didn't get to take the bike out on the road at all. It is supposed to be clear the rest of the weekend, but still on the cold side....but I WILL get out at least once.

Let's see if I can add a couple of photos.... if this doesn't work there are photos on my picasa page: http://picasaweb.google.com/ellen.mallman/NewBike

Purdy!!! I'm getting ready to place my order for a new Tarmac, so I'll be getting the "boy version" of this very soon. Can't wait! Enjoy every pedal stroke!

Woooooowwww!! What a gorgeous, GORGEOUS bike!

I'll be interested to hear your opinion of the Toupe saddle. I talked to one bike shop boy who rode the MS 150 on his and he said it was by the far the most comfortable saddle made by Specialized.

    Dr. Badger,

She's a beaut!! I'm really interested in the crankset -- I've never seen that particular one. (But then again, I don't get out much.)

Can't wait to hear your initial impressions of your new ride.

    Enjoy and congratulations!!
