    Knee update

I went to the sports med doc yesterday. He is a knee specialist. Confirmed my self diagnosis of petallar tendonitis. Bent my knee pushed on the tendon and I said...YEEOUCH, that is the spot.

No running until it feels better. Wants me to get a dual action Cho-pat strap. I can spin on my trainer and ride my road bike outside, swim.

Ice, OTC pain releivers...you know the drill. Back in 3 weeks if it is not getting better.

The good news is that I can spin on my bike. It has only been two weeks and I am going crazy. Poor DH, what a trooper for putting up with me.

Healing thoughts to all of you with broken bits...

    ye

    Hey RNRG-

At least you know what's causing your knee pain! Phew hey!! Don't fret though, you'll be back!

Perhaps you can work on swim times? Are there any nice mtn bike trails calling you? I'm sure the trails miss you and are eagerly awaiting RNGR & DH!

I think all our DH's deserve a gift for putting up with us!!

    Keep us updated!

    What caused the patellar tendonitis?

    Knotted,
In reviewing the week leading up to the "unfortunate knee crankiness" , he thinks that I just did too much volume too soon in my season. I really did not think I was over doing it, but a little extra here, and a little extra there may have just been the straw that broke the camel's back.

In the past when I have had pt before, it was because the quad on that side had just had enough.

So that is what we think.

Do you think we are missing something?

Nope, I'm just always interested in what causes tendonitises. (tendoniti? tendonitissus? tendonitis issues...) Especially in women, since our knees take such a variety of forces.

At least you have a name for it, and a response to it.
Wishing you speedy recovery and no "back-in-three-weeks" cause it WILL get better
