I need to vent. My kids were home from college and threw a party for the Yale Boy's Acapella Group that was in town to perform at their old high school, and for some of their old high school friends. We kept the party in the backside of the house, but obviously doors were open in front to let kids in and out. What did I discover today? My son's cannondale full suspension mountain bike was gone, taken right from my living room! The only good news is that my terry titanium isis w custom crank set sitting right next to it, and my husband's trek 5500 carbon/durace bike were still there.

We can't imagine any of the guests doing it, so just think some kid must have been walking by, noticed all the activity, saw the bikes in the living room, and picked the one he'd most like to ride and slipped out a side entrance with it (the living room has french doors that open to the outside) and rode away on it.

So, just a warning, if you have kids that throw parties while you are sleeping (even for nice kids), stow your bikes and valuables in your bedroom!!

This isn't my first experience with bike theft. I had my beloved bike friday pocket rocket pro stolen, locked to a bike rack at work. The reason my son hadn't brought his bike to college was he was afraid it would be stolen on a college campus, so he took a beater to school and left this one here where it was 'secure.' I wasn't able to bike commute this morning, but before leaving I locked my Isis to my banister with a NYC kryptonite lock inside my house. Sheesh. I don't even feel safe in my own house anymore.
