Cooool....and timely. My commuter blew out a tire earlier this week. (Thank goodness I wasn't riding the darned thing when it happened. I and my heavy laptop backpack would probably have been pitched pronto into the path of a passing car.......)

I haven't fixed a flat in at least ten years. I agree that the video makes it look awfully easy! I suspect I'll be wrestling with my tire MUCH longer this weekend when I tackle putting in a new tube. (And swearing loud enough and long enough in the process to send my dog scurrying for shelter out of earshot.........) ........Thanks!

I have tried to fix a flat only once and was unsuccessful.This was at a 'fix-a-flat' clinic.
I was set to ride the Civil War Century, had a flat in the parking lot. The bike mechanic attempted to fix it. It took him forty five minutes and he never did get that tire seated. By that time it was HOT and my heart was no longer in the ride. I settled for a tomato sandwich and lemonade.

The tire was a brand new Bontrager hard case, incredibly stiff and hard to mount. I don't think I'll ever buy those again.

Zen - funny you should say Bontrager hard case - I had my 1st flat in about 6 months on a new one of those tires. Picked up a 2-1/2" NAIL that went clear thru tire, tube, and dinged up the rim tape. It sure made a racket when it popped too. It took me a LONG time to get the tire off, and even longer to get it back on the Sat before Christmas. Finally a car came and offered help - I said I needed some muscle and we got it on and I thanked him and sent him on his way. Then I inflated the tire (w/CO2) and it went flat even before I could finish the air - valve was bad, and the pin came out when I took the inflator off. So then I had to do it all over again, without help. But it was a little easier 2nd time around. Those tires are stiff, but I got 6 months without a flat so they aren't bad either.
