(off-topic) Hey Brandy, is that your boyfriend in your avatar? I scarcely dare say this with the reputation I suddenly got myself but he looks HOT! Great photo

back on topic: lord, yes, eat lots! I have to make a point out of eating just before going to bed, or I can't fall asleep.

erk, slushy and miserable out, I'm going to wimp out and take the shortest way to work for a few days now.

Thanks lph, he is a hottie! Yes, that's my boyfriend George and that photo was taken during Furnace Creek 508 (508 mile race) which he did on a fixed gear. His blog link is in my signature...he always has some interesting ultra-distance adventure to write about. www.epictrain.blogspot.com

Slightly back on topic...he's a commuter too. 65 miles each way and he typically does at least two-three round trips per week!

Jeez, I'm not going to complain anymore. Now I feel like a wimp.

Nice picture, btw. What a cute shot!! And the 508 on a fixie. Man- he's got some major cojones! Wowzie!

Yes! He just left work a few minutes ago...I still have an hour of work left, I'll go home, change and then head south to meet him and still get a good two hours in. He's a nut.

Really though, as an ultracyclist he needs the miles and it's a great way to get them in. He's doing Race Across the West in June (first 1000 miles of RAAM...he did RAAM on a two person team last year) and a bunch of double centuries and brevets before that.

Thanks for the compliment on the picture. It was taken by Terry Zmrhal, the race director of RAAM who crewed with me on Furnace Creek 508.

    wow

That is one awesome commute! You need to start a bike club I had one but it fizzled out this year and I had one boy last year so maybe next year. You have enough miles for great traing. Congratulations!

    Tri Girl,

I just started commuting again (today!), and my first winter commute. I'm at around 29-30 miles each way. I did mine in about 2 hours 10 min.

I agree with everything you've written and burned 1100 calories this morning and have been famished since. I was worried about my lighting but I didn't have a problem with people seeing me.

Keep us updated, it's nice to know that someone is in the same boat!
