550!!!!
If I want to ignore a thread, I just don't open it. This method seems much too hard. But if someone NEEDS it, I'm glad it's there!
It comes in handy.

I still have certain people on ignore since thier posts are![]()
I have lots and lots on my ignore list - probably hundreds...
I would love to do what Mimi does, but there are so many threads and each page I open to find new posts takes time to load... you see, I am on dial-up and the fastest speed I connect at when home is 16.8kbps
Therefore, when I log in, I want to have to load as few pages as possible. I ignore some of the gear and health and nutrition stuff, most of the running stuff, alot of the rides specific to American states.
When I log in I click on "New Posts" and that is how I find what I haven't read since I was last logged in.
In fact, I would tell you how many I am ignoring, but that page will not load for me!!!
Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
ah, Dial Up!! Road Raven, you're right, I am so spoiled!
Wow! i am amazed that you would have 550. Where they that bad? And blocking seems so strange I can't imagine blocking anyone here. But my dh has done it on a few sites he has been on so I guess there must be reasons for it.
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Hey there Brandi - for me its not that the posts/threads are bad
Its just that sometimes the opening post will tell me if I am likely to be interested in that thread.
For example - I don't "do" specific diets, or weight loss programmes like weight watchers - so those discussions only hold little interest for me. Having been here a while now, I know that often successes like weight loss appear in other threads, so I can congratulate members on their success and tenacity and perserverence in those.
If the thread was titled something like "Does WW work for you?"... well, I would have nothing to add to a thread about whether weight watchers works for me (as I have never belonged) and have no particular passionate interest in knowing how many grams of this or that someone else is eating - I can also add nothing constructive or useful to the enquiry and ensuing discussion... so I pop the thread on "ignore"
I assume this process is the same for JoBob
As you say, there are no "bad" threads here or "nasty" posts...
This is a fantastic forum.
Basically, what RoadRaven said is the way I feel as well.
There are threads here that just do not interest me.
Many of them, I simply do not open, same as what MimiTabby suggested.
Sometimes there's a thread that does not interest me, but it ends up being a very active thread. If when I click on "New Posts" and it repeatedly winds up near the top of the list of threads w new posts, then I put it on ignore.
It's much more convenient to scan down the list of New Posts when its not cluttered with threads that simply don't interest me. Especially when I haven't read the list for a few days.

I've got dial up too RR, I have dsl at work though, so some things I look up there instead. I just skim over any posts I made to see if there are any replies and then to new posts that catch my eye. Don't have time to look at everything, but it's fun and I love TE. Jenn
