Lynette
My first weigh-in.
1/4/08: 161.4 (ugh)
My new non-farm blog: Finding Freedom
My first weigh in - 155.8, sniff. One year I'd like to have a new year's resolution that didn't involve eating habits or weight loss!!
1/4/07 day one weigh-in: 140.0 on the nose!
I gave myself permission to really enjoy the holidays (and gained!) but now it's time to get back on track. This challenge is also a good way to get me out of my lurkdom.
BK
149.0 today. My digital scale has become incredibly inaccurate (2-5 lbs. heavier than our really consistent old scale). I'll go find a new digital today or tomorrow, but I was definitely 149 on the nose today.

It's possible!
I made a resolution in 2004, and "managing weight" is no longer an issue in my life.
What worked for me? I made the decision to lose weight by making changes that I was willing to commit to for the rest of my life. For me, that meant that I lost weight slowly. More slowly than my friends that started diets in 2004 at the same time. But I'm still a size 4, and my dieting friends have gone round and round losing the same 20/30 pounds & gaining it back. It happened so slowly, and I was so committed and unresentful of the changes that I made, that my friends actually talk like I'm now just a naturally skinny person.
Anyway, just wanted to encourage everyone to believe that it is possible to get a handle on your weight in a way that you can live with long term, and leave this area behind as "a problem" for good.
You know, I did exactly this when I was 28. I lost about 25lbs and for the first time in my life, I felt 'normal' and not fat. I did it by deciding to eat right for the sake of eating right, and not just to lose weight. And the weight eventually came off. I distinctly remember my friends and coworkers asking when I was going to stop losing, and I used to say "when my body is ready - I'm happy eating the way I do so we'll just see where this takes me".
Unfortunately, my life underwent a major upheaval and there have been about 5 additional upheavals since then. There have also been about 500 attempts at 'dieting' since then, too.And here I am, 35 lbs heavier than were my body 'normalized' 10 years ago.
Until a few days ago, I just couldn't seem to get back into that old mindset. I don't know what triggered it, but last week I made a decision to eat right again for long term benefits (to me, to the environment, to my biking, to my husband, etc) and it feels right again. FINALLY. No more shooting for a particular event or time frame...no more 'temporary' thoughts...I'm getting into 'lifestyle mode'!
Blueskies - I hope to follow in your footsteps!
