2007 was good for me too. I didn't keep track of miles, but those last few months of our tour were tough. We considered giving up at one point, but kept going. Shortly after that my mom died, which would have given us a very easy out - but we didn't quit. We ended up making it all the way to Connecticut, so we were happy!

I'm also happy about my commuting. All fall, I think I drove to school only about 6 or 7 times - all the other days I rode my bike. It's only 7.5 miles each way, so it isn't a big deal - but the fact that I keep consistent with it is huge!! All my studnets think I'm nuts to ride my bike through the snow and rain - they look at my bike in my classroom and just shake their heads.

Looking back, I'd say that I probably exceeded my goals for 2007.

I wanted to ride as many miles as 2006, but missed out on that mark by a bit, finishing with 5153 (vs. 5722 in '06). The miles were definietly more intense, however!

    Here's the breakdown for me:

    Road bike: 2256.6
    MTB: 464.1
    Tandem: 1065.9
    'Cross: 972.6
    Trainer: 394.8

Other goals for the year were to race more (competed in 48 races with only 1 DNF due to a crash), upgrade my 'Cross license to compete at the Elite level (I ended up upgrading both my road and 'cross licenses to Cat 3 after some VERY good results at the beginning of the road season) and to set a PR at the TT as well as re-take the tandem TT record (I did set a PR at the TT with a time of 23:56 for 9.75 miles, but the tandem record eluded us this year despite coming within 2 seconds). I was also the club member who competed in the most TTs during the season - 14 - earning me a free pass to next year's series!

Much of my 2007 success is owed to the encouragement and support of my DH, teammates and all of you here at TE! Thanks to all of you for reading race reports, telling me that I do not suck (), and just being there to offer support when needed.

2008? The sky is the limit! How do I top a year like this one? I think I'll revel in these accomplishments some more before I decide on my cycling goals for the coming year.
