Can't Never Could- My Quest for 3,500 is Over!!

Whew! It took every last day of the year and a Metric Century on New Year's Eve but I made it to 3,500. Last year I fell about 100 miles short of my yearly goal and I thought when I developed bronchitis at the beginning of December I was sunk on this years goal. Luckily I woke up this morning to beautiful weather and with a mind full of determination. I sat there watching the miles tick by knowing I needed close to 62 to make it and I did!! I must have been annoying DH because after 20 miles I kept telling him every mile how many I had left.

I can't believe how motivating this board can be. A friendly competition between li10up and myself made me determined to at least get to 3,500. And definitely watching all the numbers LisaSH kept putting up throughout the year pushed me and she probably didn't know, luckily she is snowed in and I finally passed her! I don't think I will ever be putting up the awe inspiring 5,000+ years but I cannot believe I made it to 3,500. Can't wait to get started racking up miles towards my 2008 goal of 4,000.

Hmmm...sounds like something Silver said 12 months and 6,000+ miles ago.

    Congrats!

    Well done A!

It feels so good to reach those goals - especially ones that have taken time and perserverance

Well done - despite (or is that in spite) of bitter weather you got there. Revel in your outstanding achievement

congrats!! I don't even have an odometer on my bike - how's that for a lack of goal?

If I had to guess, I think I probably cycled around 6000 or 7000 miles in 2007 - but I was out touring for over 5 months of hte year, so that wasn't a big deal at all!!

    Way To Go!!

A, I am so happy for you!! I'm so glad you made it to 3500. I knew you could and would do it! YOU GO GIRL!! Wow, 4000 for next year? Don't know if I can hang with you on that one....it will be interesting. I've been kind of lazy lately. Haven't been on the bike in about two weeks. I'm sure LisaSH will be back out there at the first sign of a thaw! So you better keep those tires pumped up. Congratulations!!!!!

Thanks everyone, it is great that we all share our individual goals. My goal for this year is to sleep more and take better care of myself so I don't get sick as often. If that happens 4,000 will as well!

The winter riding is harder for me than the Texas summers, I have to keep on myself to ride through January and February. I want an even pace, so close to 1,000 miles before April 1.
