I'm sending prayers, too. Hopefully they'll get things figured out fast and easy, but if it looks like she'll need to be in for awhile, let me know if we can do anything to help make it a little less negative for her- I could send a gift, books, etc. I would be happy to help if I can! The hospital can be a very scary place at any age.

Having little ones sick is the absolute worst!

We hated it when our pre-verbal children were sick (3-4yrs and younger)... not so much because they were sick, but because they couldn't tell us about it - how they felt or how to fix it... that was really awful...

Keeping you all in our thoughts...

Oh, they still know nothing. But they are feeling this is not as serious as they might have thought. Every single test comes back negative for anything. The last thing they are going to do is have a ENT look at her and possibly go into the sinuses and see if they are the cause. That would have been the first thing i would have done since allergies run in our family. I won't be happy if they went through all this just to find out It was her sinuses. But keep those good vibes coming I think maybe we are winning with posative thoughts!

Coming in here late Brandi- but sending my warm AZ vibes nonetheless!
Hope it's an allergy thing that they can get under control.
    Poor little pumpkin!!
And as a parent, I could only imagine what mom and dad are going through!
When Spencer was a baby he seemed to be constantly sick. Everytime he caught a cold it went into pnuemonia and ear infections. It was horrible. FINALLY when he was around two they decided he had asthma, put him on a regimine, and he was fine. But those first two years being in and out of the hospital with a baby who didn't understand what was going on was HORRIBLE!
So please send mom and dad my love.

I will send your best wishes onto them. It has been very hard on them. Thank you for relating to them. I have no kids so I can only imagine.

    update

They have found a lump on her skull in the back and two spots on her right chest. These are from the CT scan. My sister is a wreck. I am feeling really weird. I am numb right now. I am trying to keep posative thoughts..but it is hard when I hear my sister's grief on the phone. I am trying I really am.
My brother said he is never going to think he's life sucks ever again. Considering what our family is going through right now.
I am hoping this mass is just a cyst that is causeing the swelling. I really hope!
They are at one of the best hospitols for children right now so I am hopeful when it comes to that.

I'm happy to hear that your niece seems to be doing better. I will keep her in my prayers as the doctor tries to determine the cause of her swelling.

I am happy that Lorelie is not feeling any pain just frustrated in having to be in a strage place and I am sure she see;s the saddness in my sister. I keep trying to get my sister to be stronge. And to not give in.
Thanks again to all who have us in your hearts. It truly means a lot to us. When she is up to it I will share this post with my sister so she knows all the good vibes that were being sent to her and her family. Oh My sister is a young mother as well. SHe is 28. I am much older then her and can see why she is having a hard time keeping it together.

To your sister I would say:

There IS a peace that transcends understanding. I've experienced it.

BUT, our tendency is to 'freak out' over the possibilities first. We can do that, but at some point, it's beyond our control.

As loved ones, our role is to make sure that the best care and testing are provided and that our loved one is not 'lost in the system', but absent that involvement, it's out of our control - and we have to accept that.

"God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
courage to change the things we can,
and wisdom to know the difference."

...as I ponder this, maybe I'm reminding myself of something that's easy to forget...

    Update!

Again thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for all of your words of wisdom. I can't wait to share this thread with my sister when she is feeling better.
It has been the hardest day so far. We had to wait almost all day for a bone scan. Good news is they ruled the mass on her head as INACTIVE! I love this word right now! My poor sister was so...boy I just can't describe it. I was being very calm with her on the phone. But when I would get off I would break down. But I never let her know or hear me.
We were so relieved when they Oncologist (not sure on the spelling there)said we could now rule out cancer. (BIG SIGH)
We still don't know what is wrong and they want to do a biopsy on the lumps on her forhead. But I am happy for now. It's not an answer to what is happening but for now it's ok.
I think they will be in the hospital for a while though. If anyone wants to send a card or something I will give you my sister's address. Just let me know and I will post it.Actually just pm and I will send it to you! I would say send to the hospital but things can change and I would not want them to go there and not make it to her. Let me know. I know a few of you have asked.
    Happy new year!
