To your sister I would say:
There IS a peace that transcends understanding. I've experienced it.
BUT, our tendency is to 'freak out' over the possibilities first. We can do that, but at some point, it's beyond our control.
As loved ones, our role is to make sure that the best care and testing are provided and that our loved one is not 'lost in the system', but absent that involvement, it's out of our control - and we have to accept that.
