Kind of a tangent but on a local news show a few months ago, the DC-area AIDs/HIV rate was being discussed. The "experts" on the show mentioned that there has been a rise in AIDs/HIV rates among local folks 60 and older. The reason---Viagra and similar medications---according to the "experts."

I've never found perfection particularly interesting, especially when it requires changing your appearance to fit someone else's version of "beauty." I agree w/Flybye, as well. Sounds trite but it's so true that beauty comes from the inside. How you treat other people is what matters.

I agree with Mr. Silver that men are not as obsessed as those ads would have you believe. It's just a form of marketing and as with any marketing these companies are trying to create a need: in this case, by exploiting the insecurities of some. I still remember all those douche commercials from my childhood about that "not so fresh feeling." In jr. high, I made the mistake of using one of them. Yeow! Not good. The cleansing agent gave me a very unpleasant tingly/burning sensation and the perfumes gave me a rash. Never again.

What is weird about this whole thing is that I get tons of those emails through the filter at my office (a public school network), but very few in my personal email (gmail).

And I have to agree with Zen, I have never received one suggesting I enlarge my breasts - good thing, since I would have to decline and offer to donate to some underdeveloped country.....I mean....individual.

That may have something to do with it but did I think there's more. That demographic includes those who came of age during the 60's along with the BCP and sex without so much risk. The worst that could happen back then had a cure. Now those people are losing spouses to death and divorce and are back into a dating population of sorts. It's sort of an "it can't happen to me, I'm an old man/woman" sort of thing.

You know the type, SUV driver with the Denali or Humvee or ... rev'ing their engine at us, buzzing you or brushing by too close to the bike lane, throwing stuff.

Hmmmm, since guy parts are influenced by the circulatory system as well as brains and emotion and stuff which would a gal prefer? Now, I don't know much about this 'cause I don't sleep with guys or haven't in so long it doesn't count anymore. Maybe womens thinking has changed since the 70's. probably not.

Studies show 9 out of 10 women Dentists prefer the fit cyclist to the sedentary Humvee guy. (the 10th bats for my team).

Where is the SPAM that says "Women will love your huge VO2 Max; bike to work" we also like it if you listen, help with the housework every so often, and buy us wool ....
