My 1 hr "test the bars" rainy putter turned into a 4 hr "ride like a posessed demon" trip.

Headed toward my LBS www.recycledcycles.com , just cuz... then convinced myself I should go all the way there so I could have them adjust my mushy brakes. (much more obvious on the moostache bars than on my drops) My beloved LBS installed some inline barrel adjusters so I can adjust to my heart's content. They're having a monster sale, so I bought wool socks (among other things). Those wool socks come in handy later in my story.

Headed back toward home. About halfway back, while riding at a rather pedestrian pace over the notorious Tree Roots of the Burke-Gilman, I managed to break a pedal.

I was tired. I was cold. I was hungry. I was afraid to ride home on that pedal. I didn't have my bus pass.

Turned around and headed back. Tired. Slow. Checked the pedal a couple times, yup, still a mess.

While LBS replaced my pedals (warrantee) I changed into my dry wool socks I packed from home. (not the new ones I bought at the LBS sale. Those come later.)

Once again headed home. Halfway home, over the tree roots, and I broke the NEW pedal. Actually, the pedal failed me, cuz there is no way little ol' me should be able to break a pedal that I've only had for 30 minutes. (both pedals that "broke" were the left pedal)

Decided I'd just ride on the damm thing cuz I wanted to go home.

Got to my car and sat in it a while to warm up. Put on my new wool socks (see, I told you they'd be in this story) and drove home.

Took a 15 minute HOT shower, put on lots of nice dry clothes.

    BTW: love the moostache bars.
