Hmm, is this a new and interesting vocabulary test or are you trying to flush out individual's political and social opinions?Fer instance, who thinks the Mormon Church is hegemonic in Ootah? Which of us think the Bush Neo-cons are hegomonists? There's definitely hegemony going on in Irag, Sudan, etc., etc., etc.

Not being an English major, I mostly know the word "hegemony" from sociological works on hegemonic masculinity -- i.e. certain standardized, stereotypical male gender roles that may only exist in people's minds yet nevertheless dominate there to the point that all alternatives (i.e. everybody to some extent or another) are seen as somehow deviant. And btw, the guy who first wrote about that has since become a gal.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
