Weird Xmas for us also. Bubba will still be in California, not only winding up the transfer of 135 cases to other attorneys in the DOJ (none of which have the skills or knowledge in his specific area) and in a trial as he heads toward retirement on 12/28. The house down there is pretty much down to an air mattress, his garment box of suits and one bike so it doesn't make sense for me to go down until I can haul him and his stuff up here on that last weekend. Our 20th Anniversary is on 1/2 so I'm really targeting that for being together. Besides, mtkitchn and I put in a lot of hard work to pick out a very special champagne for the occasion.

Fortunately, we don't exchange gifts with other family members except with my parents. This year they're getting gift certs to kiva.org.

Other than that, I bake biscotti or other calorie-free treats.

I will have to get the recipes for these calorie free treats. Do you have a good source for calorie free wine?

Well I got a new laptop for Christmas which I am using now. I know a little early but it was on sale and DH doesn't know a think about computers so he told me to go get it yesterday. LOL

I got him a new brooks b17 saddle for his bike. I hope he is going to like it. I think from reading some of your threads that I might want to get me one s
soon myself. I will wait though and see how well he likes his.
Ds will be getting a new tv for his room so he can play his games back there and I don't have to run him out of the living room or my room all the time.
I think that is more a present for mom and dad. LOL

Yep, just invite jobob over. Sit back and watch.

Depending on the whims of the weather gods, I'll see Bubba again in 8 days (or so)! Yippee!

    J&P mail order forced bulbs

For most of the adults on my Christmas list I wound up ordering prepotted bulbs from J&P. Most of them don't need "stuff" and I don't have to go to the Post Office or UPS to do the shipping.

    me again

I indulged in my other hobby - dabbling in things Renaissance (I play with the Society for Creative Anachronism). I ordered an Art book that covers an exhibit of Italian costuming during the 1500s. I've seen the book and [U]need[U] it for my library. I've learned that waiting until later could mean these special interest books will no longer be available. My quest is to find inspiration for a costume that won't make me melt in Louisiana summers. Doesn't help that during the Renaissance was the mini-ice age. That and like now, people wore their Best Clothes for portraits - thus we have decent documentation of what the filthy rich wore, in the winter. How about the merchant class, in the summer????
