    WOOOOHOOOO!

Not only did we pass...but we got High in Trial!!!!!! WHich means the highest scoring dog from ALL the classes...(all 4 obedience classes from CD to UDX)!!!

The ribbon we got is like 4 feet long!!! ANd we won a folding crate.

A Companion Dog --with precision and with only one "command" must heel, sit when you stop, stay tight with you in turns and about turns, and figure eights; Stand for exam...let a stranger go over his body and not move, do a fast straight recall and sit in front, and do a 1 minute sit stay and a 3 minute down stay with the handler across the ring...and again, can't change position until the handler returns and releases him.
Its like a dance when you get it right...adn lots of fun because you have to really learn how to communicate with your dog...

    thanks for your beams too!!

sbctwin: you know...i'm not sure. i saw cameras.
there will be a photo of us with the judge and our ribbon though...i'll share it when the photographer sends it to me.

there are dog shows almost every weekend in every state in the country...although summer has the most. its fun to go watch, especially the obedience trials and the rally and agility trials too.

the dogs competing in what most people call "beauty contests" are not being judged on superficials either...most important is that they have the proper structure and temperment to do the job for which they were bred. It is not easy to earn a championship title on a dog....(which is why it BURNS me to read smarmy classifieds in the local paper offering "championship puppies" because it is a misuse of the term...no such thing as a championship puppy. Good puppies can have parents who are champions.)
