    Dog sitting... the adventure begins

We're going to be dog sitting a potential show dog for the next 3 weeks or so. She's from the same breeder that we got our boys from. She's up with us to expose her to the cold to try to get a better coat on her. (They live in Sacramento, we're up in the mountains.)

The breeder brought her up last night and then stayed overnight with us. She, the collie not the breeder, is a pretty little thing. She's a blue merle, rough coat collie. She's half the size of my boys. She's also at least twice as active.

So far, my rough boy isn't too excited. He was VERY grumpy last night. The smoothie thought she was great fun.

Our first walk out on the trail this morning went fine. She stayed with us off leash perfectly. That's one big worry out of the way. Tonight we'll see how it goes walking 3 dogs on leashes in the dark... and snow.

Well, she is a potential showdog afterall.

I've been trying to foster dogs for the local POPP group. I'm afraid my current puppy, who's a doll!, will be my last.
My two adult dogs get in fights with each other when I have a foster dog - strange.

Sounds like you are going to have fun with your attractive collies! This is a fun thing you are doing, I hope her coat fills in as expected.

We have a doggie houseguest too right now. She has to wear a diaper and is very cute.

lol I think my big, blue boy is one of the most beautiful dogs ever. Of course, I'm WAY biased. This little girl is pretty, but not as pretty as my boy.

Here's a picture of Toby and Cameron, my guys. I'll post a picture of Nina when I get one.

    (I hope this comes through.)

Toby is beautiful! I have a soft spot for collies because they remind me of my own Aussie, Murphy (in my profile pic).

Good luck walking three dogs! We stopped at two because we figured a third would be too difficult to walk. But, once we have a yard, we may decide to adopt another.

You have two beautiful dogs. I think it would be hard to be the sitter for a collie - The one time we tried fostering a rescue collie (sable rough girl) - we kept her. Fostering is tricky -

The difference in sizing is something - one of my collies weighs 75 lbs (not overweight) and one weighs 55 (again - vet says fine for her size).

We were expected to get 6-10 inches of snow last night. We got 3 FEET and it's still coming down. I put on my snowshoes this morning and went out for a walk with the dogs. My 2 big guys just surfed through the snow. The little girl had a bit harder time. She'd bound over a snow patch and disappear completely. I'd spot her again when her head poked up, covered in snow. The first time she did it she looked so surprised! This is her first experience with snow. She loved it. I'll try to post some more pictures when it stops snowing.
