I don't know how long they are (and they might be longer than 8") but I like the Desoto Rapida tri shorts. There are no grippers, they stay put, and they are pretty darned comfy through all the tri components.

I'm not huge but I'm 5'11" and am not in shape as I could be which means I am large-ish. I like them.

    Teigyr, is this it? http://www.sportsbasement.com/jump.j...T&itemID=10693

I think my next pair of shorts will be tri shorts, cuz I just don't mesh well with thick-n-smooshy 3-D chamois. (the older style chamois and I get along fine, but it's hard to find nice ones these days)

Edit: TE has 'em on sale http://www.teamestrogen.com/brands.asp?brandID=108

It's fairly easy to remove the elastic from the shorts with a seam ripper.
