ok, I've posted here a bit and still haven't done this, so here goes:
Real name: Ellen
Where do you live? Cape Cod, MA
Explanation of your handle: TriMom is always taken on every site I've tried to use it so I just added a few numbers. They happen to be my birthday (2-17) and I used to tease my kids about never forgetting Mom's birthday now.
Explanation of your avatar: It's a club design for the North Shore Cyclopaths, a group my husband and I ride with in the summer.
Age (general or specific) 2.17.63. Aging up next season!
Occupation: teacher
Favorite bike: right now it's my new road bike.
What's in your stable? 2008 Specialized Ruby, 2004 Quintana Roo Caliente (tri), and a 2002 Specialized Hard Rock.
Fastest speed on a road bike? where? when? This past October I hit 45 MPH on a descent while riding the Great River Ride in Westfield, MA. It was one of the scariest things I have ever done. In the metric century there was over 11K feet of climbing, so there was a lot of descending too.
Another picture of yourself or your ride? will have to look for one.
What is the biggest lie you've ever told: not gonna touch this one!
Most memorable moment on my bike: It was during the Tri State Seacoast Century this past September. At about the 50 mile mark I got out of the saddle to climb up a small hill, and I mean real small. I was ready to blast up it when BOTH quads locked up with cramps like I have never felt before. I was clipped in and could not move either leg. My husband and a friend were right in front of me, I was in the middle of the road, and there were other riders and cars behind me. I yelled "I'm going down" because I didn't want anyone to crash into me, but I couldn't even go over on my side.
My husband had to unclip me and drag me over to the side of the road. Some kind neighbors ran and got me some ice, while another rider gave me her electrolytes. My husband kneaded and iced both quads for over 30 minutes before I could get up. Then we went and rode another 50 miles![]()
